Our Favorite Lightweight Moisturizers

I've always loved skincare products — even if my wallet hasn’t.

This probably stems from another lifetime when I worked as a Massage Therapist in high-end day spas where I was exposed to hundreds of glass bottles that beautifully adorned the display cases (or serving as a guinea pig for the Estheticians in-between clients.) Either way, I was hooked enough to enjoy the experience, but never on the hook enough to truly understand the importance of skincare beyond my semi-regular facials.

Fast forward nine years, and I now spend countless nights layering a number of high-end products to make up for my lack of sunscreen use, proper hydration, and improper treatment of my skin in my early twenties. And as an older, wiser, millennial, I now understand the importance of an actual skincare routine and look forward to my twice-daily regimen. Because #selfcare.

I’m sure we’ll get into night creams, serums, and sheet masks galore in future articles — but for now, let’s stick with the basics and chat about lightweight daily moisturizers. I’m including two of my go-to products, as well as a top pick from both Amanda, our Editor at Large, and Billy, the creative behind the newly launched lifestyle blog, The Panda Wears Prada.

My most recent daily was discontinued by Perricone, but my two picks are my tried-and-true, ride-or-die products. I don’t know about you, but there’s nothing that bothers me more than a thick or oily moisturizer. I tend to opt for lightweight, yet effective products, that minimize tackiness, absorb quickly, and leave my skin feeling quenched, not drenched.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream

$22 /oz. Available at kiehls.com and Sephora

This budget friendly moisturizer is great for a variety of skin types and is light as a feather on the skin. The draw: the variant with SPF falls short and feels much heavier.

Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream

$50 /oz. Available at katesomerville.com and Sephora

Having tried this before, I was more than excited to get it in the Winter Fab Fit Fun Box. It's so light, feels luxurious, and isn't greasy or heavy at all. Definitely a go-to of mine.

Pro Tip: Stay hydrated throughout the day (and on-the-go) with a hydrating mist. But don't be fooled by products that can dry you out. Instead, pack a mist with ultra-hydrating hyaluronic acid, like this Biossance Squalane + Hyaluronic Toning Mist, available at Sephora.

Skinceuticals Daily Moisture

$63 /2 oz. Available at skinecuticals.com and Nordstrom

Amanda's Pick: Daily Moisture is both lighweight and emmolient. My pores look smaller, my skin smoother, and it also serves as a great base under makeup."

La Mer Moisturizing Soft Cream

$90 /.5 oz. Available at Nordstrom and Sephora

Billy's Pick: Having used La Mer for a week, I've already noticed improved skin tone, more radiance, and an overall feeling of more hydrated skin."
